We celebrated 75 years of connecting Mexico City with Madrid, a milestone commemorated at the Iberia Space in Mexico City. The inaugural flight, undertaken in 1950 aboard a Douglas DC-4 aircraft, symbolised the beginning of a longstanding partnership between the two capitals.

At the anniversary event, attended by Almudena Maíllo, tourism councillor of the Madrid City Council, and Víctor Moneo, director of Alliances and Strategic Agreements at Iberia, the significance of enhancing connectivity between Mexico and Spain was underscored. Maíllo emphasized the importance of Madrid as a gateway from Latin America, while Moneo expressed pride in Iberia's commitment to Mexico and the enduring success of the Mexico City-Madrid route.

In 2024, we further solidified our connectivity by deploying three daily flights between Mexico City and Madrid, utilising the A350 aircraft. This record connectivity reinforces our role in facilitating travel between both countries, with over 772,000 seats offered annually, a 17% increase from pre-pandemic levels.
