Iberia strengthen operations on connections from Madrid for Christmas

30 November 2023

  • We're offering 30 additional flights during December and another 16 over Christmas on the routes with the highest demand.
  • During the Christmas period, we will make more than 5,000 flights available to its customers to the destinations where it operates, offering  1,100,000 seats.
  • London, Paris, New York and Rovaniemi are the most popular destinations.

We've increased the capacity of our connecting flights from Madrid throughout December and Christmas, at the times with the highest number of scheduled trips, adding 23 more frequencies and almost 10,000 additional seats on its medium and long-haul routes. This increase is offered in the European destinations with the highest demand and also in several Latin American destinations.

During December, we have scheduled a significant increase in seats to respond to the strong market demand. For this reason, we are increasing the routes most requested by travelers with 15 frequencies. Specifically, 2 additional frequencies are added on the Madrid-Frankfurt routes (one on 2 December and another on 11 December), Madrid-Prague (6 and 10 December) and Madrid-Budapest (December 6 and 9). The Madrid-Vienna route is also increased by one frequency (9 December).

In the case of Latin America, 4 additional frequencies are added to the Madrid-Guayaquil route (1, 3, 5 and 8 December), two more frequencies to the Madrid-Puerto Rico route (7 and 9 December) and an extra frequency between Madrid-Santo Domingo (4 December) and Madrid-Rio de Janeiro (6 December).

More flights at Christmas

We have also increased our flights at Christmas to make it easier for its customers to travel on these important dates. In total, from 21 December to 8 January, 5,082 flights will operate, representing almost 1,100,000 seats.

During these days, the routes with the greatest demand for travelers are increased. Two extra frequencies are added to the four daily flights that connect Madrid with Frankfurt (22 December and 8 January). It also adds two more frequencies to the Madrid-Munich route (22 December and 6 January), and Madrid-Zurich (23 December and 8 January).

The increase in flights for these dates is completed with a new frequency between Brussels-Madrid (21 December) and another between Geneva-Madrid (23 December).

Among the popular destinations at Christmas are other European capitals such as London where we offer 16 daily flights (8 of them operated directly by Iberia), Paris with 11 frequencies and Vienna with 3 daily frequencies. To this list we must add New York, one of the North American destinations preferred by travelers to celebrate Christmas. We operate two direct flights daily between Madrid and New York.

Although, without a doubt, the star destination of these dates is Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland and the land of Santa Claus. We fly to this destination from 2 December to 10 February with two weekly frequencies, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. WE offer almost 7,000 seats to fly directly between Madrid and Rovaniemi. A route that will be operated by the Airbus 320neo aircraft, the most technologically advanced and efficient in our short and medium-haul fleet.
